Guest and logged-in wishlists
How saving works for guests, what happens at login, and how lists follow shoppers across devices.
5 steps · about 4 minutes
Guests save instantly
No login is required to save. A guest's wishlist lives in their browser and persists across visits on that device. This zero-friction default is deliberate: login walls collapse wishlist adoption.
Requiring login (optional)
If your brand prefers accounts, flip Require login in the app's Settings. The wishlist button then prompts shoppers to log in through Shopify's own customer login before saving. We never build or store passwords.
Login merges and syncs
When a shopper logs in, their guest list merges into their customer profile and syncs across every device they use while logged in. Save on the phone, see it on the laptop.
The customer accounts page
You can also give logged-in shoppers a Wishlist page inside their Shopify account area. In Shopify admin: Settings → Customer accounts → Customize → add the Wishlist page to the account menu. Their saved products then live next to Orders and Profile.
What identifies a shopper
Guests are identified by an anonymous per-device token, never by anything personal. A shopper becomes a named lead only when they give you their email (with consent) or log in.
